Before We Begin
What To Expect
My Approach
What will you encounter during a therapy session with me? I have often been told that I am warm, empathic and people leave feeling heard and understood. My initial approach is often client centered and nondirective until I gain understanding of what direction we need to go in counseling. I truly believe in the power of the counseling relationship and often feel deep connection with my clients. I aim to not simply use evidenced based techniques, but rather lean into the relationship that we are forming. After this, I work hard to develop a climate where clients feel safe to encounter lost emotions and realities they did not know existed.
While the counseling process can often be uncomfortable, I find that clients return week to week because they are finding new rhythms in their life that they did not know were possible.
About Me
For the past 15 years, I have found myself in various roles in different helping professions. In 2007, I graduated with my degree in Psychology from Louisiana State University and set out to travel the world. After a 7 year stint that included Charleston, SC, Nashville, TN and then Calcutta, India, I settled in the hills of Virginia to pursue my studies in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have worked in many roles from Crisis Stabilization clinician to Clinical Supervisor, but I find my greatest fulfillment in connecting with clients in the outpatient setting.

In my spare time you'll find me cheering for the LSU Tigers, reading books about counseling and spirituality and spending time with my husband and son.
